Parubiy to suggest Rada 'unblock' signing of Donbas law on Tue

The Verkhovna Rada will begin the session with consideration of the draft resolution on the abrogation of the previously adopted law on securing the sovereignty of Ukraine in Donbas, chairman of the Ukrainian parliament, Andriy Parubiy said at a meeting of the conciliation council on Monday.

"Before proceeding to the agenda, I will initiate that we consider the decision to reject the law on de-occupation, which was blocked by the relevant resolution of parliamentarians, which will take a little time. But I believe that this position is political and correct so that we rejected this decision and thus opened up opportunities for signing the law," he said.

As reported, on January 18, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law "On the peculiarities of the state policy to ensure the state sovereignty of Ukraine in the temporarily occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions" and recognized the Russian Federation as an aggressor state. The next day representatives of the Opposition Bloc faction registered a draft resolution on the abolition of this law.

According to the regulations of the Ukrainian parliament, before the parliamentarians consider the draft resolution on cancellation of the earlier adopted decision, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada cannot sign the voted legislative initiative.
