The Ukrainian government has selected Donetsk Agency of Regional Development (Kramatorsk) for public procurement of construction works, reconstruction and overhaul of damaged facilities in Donetsk region, implementing a pilot project on the creation of centralized procurement organizations.

"This is our first step to introduce centralized procurement in the regions," the press service of the Economic Development and Trade Ministry reported, citing First Deputy Economic Development and Trade Minister Maksym Nefyodov commenting the resolution on creation of the centralized procurement organization in Donetsk region passed by the government on June 14.

The deputy minister said that the first pilot centralized procurement organization is state-owned Professional Procurement institution. It was founded on January 12, 2017 under a government resolution dated November 23, 2016 for the organization of procurement for the secretariat of the government and central executive power agencies.

Nefyodov said that the saving effect from unifying procurement was more than 15% expected. In May almost UAH 400,000 was saved or 17%.

The experiment will last until the end of 2017.
