Poroshenko calls not to recognize legitimacy of Duma elections in Crimea – meeting with ambassadors of G7 and EU

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has called on the international community not to recognize the elections to the Russian State Duma, which Moscow intends to hold in the temporarily occupied Crimea, and also emphasizes the importance of maintaining the policy of non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea.

"Petro Poroshenko stressed the importance of maintaining the policy of non-recognition of the illegal annexation of Crimea, where the human rights situation is drastically deteriorating… The president also called not to recognize the legitimacy of the Russian parliamentary elections that Moscow is trying to conduct in the occupied Crimea and Sevastopol – the Ukrainian territory which is temporarily occupied," the president said at a meeting with the ambassadors of G7 and the European Union, according to his press office.

Canadian Ambassador Roman Waschuk, Japanese Ambassador Shigeki Sumi, Ambassador of France Isabelle Dumont, British Ambassador Judith Gough, U.S. Ambassador Marie L. Yovanovitch, German Ambassador Ernst Reichel, Italian Ambassador Davide La Cecilia and EU Ambassador Hugues Mingarelli took part in the meeting.
