U.S. considering providing $1 bln in further credit guarantees to Ukraine in coming months

The U.S. Treasury is discussing the possibility of providing further credit guarantees worth $1 billion to Ukraine, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Jacob J. Lew has announced.

"We’re working on the provision of the third $1 billion of credit guarantees to Ukraine in the coming months. It is very important to continue reforms on tax, energy, and toughen measures to fight corruption," he told reporters after a meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk and Ukrainian Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko in Kyiv on November 13.

Lew said that the U.S. will continue cooperating with Ukraine to support further reforms, adding that the country has made considerable progress over the last two years.
