Minister Poltorak content with level of Rapid Trident 2015 drills

The experience Ukrainian servicemen get during the Rapid Trident 2015 international Ukrainian-U.S. drills at the Yavorivsky training range in the Lviv region is very important for them, Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak said.

"The experience we get here is very important. During the preparations we raised problematic issues we came across in battle actions, discussed the possibilities of resolving them and found such solutions during the drills," the minister said at a briefing in Lviv on Friday.

The level of drills is very satisfying, Poltorak said. "I am very satisfied with the level of the drills and I am certain that such drills will give an opportunity to the Ukrainian armed forces to prepare better for defending their own country and will also serve to develop the Ukrainian armed forces and switch to NATO standards," he said.

Twelve countries participate in the drills and a total of 1,885 servicemen are engaged, Poltorak said.

Drill participants train in different schemes of actions under several scenarios, the minister said.

According to the information of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, a total of over 1,800 servicemen from 18 countries will be in the Lviv region between July 20 and July 31.
