Poroshenko vows to veto any Rada decision jeopardizing Ukraine's territorial integrity

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has ruled out the draft constitutional changes stipulating a special self-governance regime for the certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions with the aim to threaten the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

"This is the norm not of the politicians who turn up in Verkhovna Rada periodically. This is the position of the president as the guarantor of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state," he said in an interview with the ICTV channel on Sunday evening.

Even if someone tries to make the changes disagreeing with the principle of sovereignty and territorial integrity, he "as the president and as any other president will definitely exercise his veto right and not allow any threatening or abuse to this day," Poroshenko said.

"Do not believe the myths: no threat can arise since there is a whole host of preventive measures in place," the head of state said.
