Ukraine's Veterinary Service steps up control over cheese exported to Russia

1 min read

The State Veterinary and Biosecurity Service of Ukraine has stepped up its control over the quality of dairy products exported to Russia following the reports of antibiotics found in two batches of domestic dairy products.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Veterinary Service has not received any official notifications from its Russian counterparts about the discovery of antibiotics in Ukrainian cheeses, the agency's press service reported.

The service stressed that each batch of dairy products, which are prepared to be exported, undergoes expanded laboratory testing in Ukraine.

As reported, the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) introduced strict controls over the produce of Ukrainian companies Hadiachsyr LLC (Poltava region) and Prometei Slavutsky Butter Factory (Kyiv region) in connection with the discovery of antibiotics in cheese batches from these producers: tetracycline and oxytetracycline.
