Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has invited Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic to visit Ukraine this autumn.

"We expect to see you this autumn. I hope that the intensification of high-level relations will to raise the level of our cooperation," he said at a meeting with Dacic in Belgrade on Friday.

Dacic, in turn, accepted the invitation to visit Ukraine.

Yanukovych said that it was a drawback that Ukraine and Serbia have not yet paid enough attention to strengthening their bilateral relations.

"Today, it's time to intensify, first and foremost, our trade and economic relations," he said.

He added that the Ukrainian side has high hopes for the effective work of the Ukrainian-Serbian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation.

"We understand well that under current conditions the authorities should work with entrepreneurs and businesses," Yanukovych said.

Dacic said that the Ukrainian and Serbian peoples have long-standing friendship.

"Therefore, it's very important to continue to develop our economic, political and cultural relations," he said.
