EU ambassador urging Regions Party not to obstruct work of Rada's Committee on European Integration

Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski has urged members of the Party of Regions to stop hindering the work of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration.

"I hope that the Committee on European Integration will resume its work," Tombinski said at the conference, entitled "Ukraine-EU: on the Path to a Common Future" in Kyiv on Thursday.

He said he regretted the fact that the Party of Regions faction has been obstructing the work of this committee, which prevents the parliament from adopting the bills necessary for Ukraine's European integration.

According to the European diplomat, there is a very favorable situation in the Ukrainian parliament when four of the five factions support the signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, and lawmakers need to take advantage of this.

The Verkhovna Rada's Committee on European Integration is headed by MP Hryhoriy Nemyria of the oppositional Batkivschyna faction. He repeatedly said that the Party of Regions has been frustrating the committee's work by not attending its meetings.
