Yanukovych cancels visit to Moscow due to Russian leadership's excessive demands, says MP

The postponement of the working visit of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to Russia is connected with the fact that Russia has excessive demands of Ukraine, former Emergencies Minister of Ukraine and independent MP Viktor Baloha has said.

"The president did no go only because the Russian leadership wants too much. If we are fraternal peoples, then they should work with in the gas sphere on the same conditions as with other European countries. And they should speak about cooperation, and not integration in the union's agreements," he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.

According to Baloha, the statements made by the Russian side on the energy issues "has to correspond to reality."

"Instead of this, they corner us and demand an agreement on accession to the union," the MP said.

He added that the president of both countries have to meet.

Meanwhile, the Batkivschyna parliamentary faction Anatoliy Hrytsenko wrote on Facebook that the president's visit to Moscow was postponed, as "Yanukovych hasn't found room for his stool between the two chairs" of the European Union and the Customs Union.

As reported, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych was to make a working visit to Moscow on December 18. However, the visit has been postponed.
