Ukraine's Customs Service and REACT intl association sign memo to combat counterfeiting
Acting Head of the State Customs Service of Ukraine Serhiy Zviahintsev and Managing Director of the international association REACT Ronald Brohm signed a memorandum on joining efforts in combating counterfeit products to implement European control mechanisms, strengthen the economic protection of the state and promote the development of legal international trade.
"Thanks to enhanced cooperation, Ukrainian customs officers will receive additional sources for detecting and identifying counterfeit goods, preventing their movement across the customs border, and thus Ukraine will gradually integrate into the pan-European institutional system for protecting the rights of owners of intellectual property rights," Zviahintsev was quoted as saying by the State Customs Service in a statement on its website on Wednesday.
The document provides not only for measures to prevent the movement of counterfeit goods across the customs border of Ukraine, but also for a strategic partnership in creating effective mechanisms to counter such activities. In particular, the parties plan to exchange information, conduct training events for customs officers, and introduce effective and relevant methods for identifying counterfeits.
It is expected that the implementation of European control mechanisms and international partnership will help strengthen the economic protection of the state, create conditions for the investment attractiveness of Ukraine, and ensure the preservation of the health of the nation. The State Customs Service is confident that the signing of the memorandum will become another open opportunity for long-term cooperation in strengthening consumer safety and developing legal international trade.
For his part, Ronald Brohm emphasized that cooperation with Ukraine is of strategic importance and will allow to promptly respond to new challenges related to the circulation of illegal goods.
"We are pleasantly impressed by the work that the Ukrainian customs service is doing at the state border to protect against counterfeiting in the difficult conditions that Ukraine is currently in. We appreciate it very much and are glad that our partnership will only expand in the future. We are ready to provide all necessary support to the customs administration," he emphasized.
