MP of Ukraine, leader of the party European Solidarity Petro Poroshenko stated that it is in the interests of Ukraine to help neighboring Moldova to overcome the energy crisis provoked by hybrid actions of the Russian Federation, at the expense of gas of its own production, the website of the political force reports.

"I think that in these conditions we can use Ukrainian gas production to support our partners and reliable friends. I mean our friendly Moldova. Moldova has now declared a state of emergency in the energy sector, they have no position on oil, gas or electricity. The issue there is much less than 1 billion cubic meters of gas. And Ukraine, if someone objects to supplies from the European Union, will be able to supply, sell the necessary gas to Moldova under the terms of payments," Poroshenko said on the air of the Pryamiy TV channel.

He emphasized that it is necessary to prevent the Russian Federation from using a provocation from the occupied territory of Moldova in order to prevent European democratic forces from winning the parliamentary elections.

"I think that for us this is also a matter of national security. For us, this is also a matter of control over the security of the borders that we have with the Republic of Moldova," the parliamentarian emphasized.

Poroshenko also called the decision to stop the transit of Russian gas through the Ukrainian gas transportation system correct, but belated. He recalled that the term of the relevant contract expired in 2019, but it was then extended for another 5 years.
