Duda: Ukraine's Independence Day is also Independence Day of entire Central Europe
Ukraine's Independence Day is, in a sense, also the Independence Day of entire Central Europe, since it is difficult to imagine a secure and independent Poland, Lithuania or other countries in the region without Ukraine's independence, said Polish President Andrzej Duda in Kyiv.
"Your Independence Day is, in a sense, also the Independence Day of entire Central Europe. After all, it is difficult to imagine a secure and independent Poland, Lithuania or other countries in our region without Ukraine's independence. We are well aware of this, and that is why I am even more glad that we have gathered here today," Duda said at a joint event with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė to mark Ukraine's Independence Day on Sophia Square on Saturday.
The Polish leader also stressed that it was a great honor for him to be in Kyiv again and celebrate the country's Independence Day together with the heroic Ukrainian people. He noted that Poland has stood by Ukraine since the very beginning of the Russian invasion.
