Ukraine exports 62 mln tonnes of cargo via maritime corridor
In the 11 months of operation of the Ukrainian maritime corridor, 62 million tonnes of cargo were transported, with 42 million tonnes being grain.
"Over 11 months, Ukrainian ports managed to handle more than 62 million tonnes of cargo, of which 42 million tonnes were grain. In total, this involved over 2,200 ships. These are incredible figures, once again proving that Ukraine is a reliable partner and can ensure the export of goods by sea even during wartime," said Deputy Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Serhiy Derkach on Facebook on Tuesday after meeting with journalists from Kenya, Nigeria, The Gambia, and South Africa.
He noted that the key topic of discussion was the operation of the Ukrainian corridor in the Black Sea and cooperation with Global South countries.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the operation of the maritime corridor demonstrates that Ukraine remains a key guarantor of global food security.
"Food security is the second point of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Peace Formula. Free and safe navigation in the Black and Azov Seas is essential for the world to receive the necessary food supplies," Derkach said.
He mentioned that the meeting also covered cooperation in various fields, including working with Morocco on a road transport agreement. Morocco will be the first African country to sign such an agreement.
The meeting also addressed the "export" of digital technologies.
"Of course, we are primarily known for exporting agricultural products, but we are a country with extensive experience in creating digital products. I am convinced we can share this expertise with African countries," said Derkach.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority reported that 60 million tonnes of cargo were transported in the 11 months of the Ukrainian maritime corridor's operation.
