Humanitarian demining is important area of work for future sowing campaign - Shmyhal
Humanitarian demining is an important area of work for the future sowing campaign, said Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
“We are preparing for the third sowing campaign in wartime. Humanitarian demining is an important area of work. This year in the state budget for the first time, we have allocated UAH 3 billion for humanitarian demining programs. I have set the Ministry of Economy with other bodies to approve a plan for prioritizing mine clearance, as well as submit a resolution that will regulate the procedure for compensation to agricultural producers for mine clearance,” Shmyhal wrote on the Telegram channel following the meeting.
The prime minister emphasized the importance of making the procurement of mine clearance services available to every agricultural producer.
Shmyhal stressed that for this, the Ministry of Economy, together with international partners, must develop an appropriate mechanism so that small farmers, in particular, can take advantage of it.
“We are also preparing a draft resolution that will introduce a simplified operator certification system. We are also working on digitalization of this process. In addition, at the meeting of the National Mine Action Authority, a strategy for humanitarian demining will be considered, which will then be submitted to the NSDC,” he said.
