IAEA Director General to lead mission to ZNPP in next two weeks
Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi has announced a visit to the Russia-occupied Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) within the next two weeks.
The IAEA has sent a total of 102 missions to Ukraine, Grossi said at a meeting of the UN Security Council on January 25, adding that he would lead another one to the ZNPP within the next two weeks.
The IAEA head recalled that the 15th IAEA Support and Assistance Mission to the ZNPP (ISAMZ) is currently working at the power plant. A total of 37 employees of the agency have visited the facility since September 1, 2022, and some of them were a part of the mission more than once, he said.
Another more than 100 IAEA representatives are working at three nuclear power plants (NPP) operating on the government-controlled territory of Ukraine as well as the Chornobyl NPP, Grossi said.
