Zelenskyy: Zaporizhia NPP won’t work without us, IAEA has never let us down

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will not allow the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant in the Russia-occupied city of Enerhodar in Zaporizhia region to operate outside the Ukrainian energy system, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is convinced.

"This is our station, it will not work without us. According to our intelligence, the Russians really want it to work without us. They are trying to drag the IAEA into this, but the IAEA is a serious international organization and so far they have not let us down. I really believe, I hope that this will be the case in the future, both near and far," Zelenskyy told reporters during a video call on Tuesday.

At the same time, he noted that he knows nothing about the results of the discussion of the Zaporizhia NPP topic between US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. "I know nothing about this except that this issue was raised in a very general way at the meeting of our teams in Jeddah and issues were discussed there, and I spoke about them with the teams. We held a consultation on important infrastructure, energy facilities of our state even before the meeting of our teams in Saudi Arabia ... Therefore, what kind of conversations America had with the Russians about the Zaporizhia NPP, I do not know yet, the details are unknown to me," the President of Ukraine said.

"The station is ours, six units, they are important to us. Again, no one will allow it, the Ukrainian side will not allow them to have this station on the occupied part of our land working for the occupiers. This is our position," Zelenskyy added.
