Zelenskyy: Ukraine will actively contribute to strengthening OPCW

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has thanked the countries that supported Ukraine's candidacies and voted Russia out of the Executive Council of the Organization for the Prohibution of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

"Russia was not elected to the Executive Council of the Organization for the Prohibution of Chemical Weapons for the first time in history. OPCW is a very reputable international body and terrorists have no place in it. At the same time, Ukraine, Poland, and Lithuania were elected for the period 2024-2026. Ukraine will actively contribute to strengthening the OPCW," he said on X Social Network on Wednesday.

The head of state also noted that in less than a month, Russia failed three elections to international bodies for the first time in history.

"This is the logical result of Russia's actions: its role in international affairs keeps diminishing and its isolation keeps growing," Zelenskyy said.
