Kuleba in European Parliament: We must put aside differences, create full-fledged Special Tribunal for crime of aggression against Ukraine

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, speaking at a conference in the European Parliament in Brussels, called for putting aside all political and legal differences and creating a full-fledged Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.

"The crime of aggression against Ukraine has been committed. It must be punished. If we allow Putin and his cronies to get away with their crimes, we will condemn our children to live in a world full of war and injustice. We must put aside all political and legal differences and create a full-fledged Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine," the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry quotes Kuleba as saying.

Kuleba especially emphasized the need to resolve the issue of immunities of the so-called "troika (three):" Vladimir Putin, his prime minister and foreign minister.

The minister noted that the Special Tribunal will also make it possible to achieve justice for the dead Ukrainian military personnel. According to Kuleba, punishment for the crime of aggression against Ukraine is an integral part of ensuring full and comprehensive accountability, which is one of the key components of President Volodymy Zelenskyy's peace formula.

According to the head of Ukrainian diplomacy, one of the main reasons for the extension of Russian aggression against Ukraine is Putin's hope that a war of attrition or a frozen conflict will allow Russia and its leadership to avoid responsibility for the crimes committed.

"We have already seen how quickly wars can break out. Unfortunately, there are many forces in the world who believe in war as an effective way to achieve their goals. If these forces see that Russian aggression led to certain troubles for Moscow, but overall allowed it to achieve the goals of this aggression, then nothing will prevent them from repeating Russian actions in other parts of the world," Kuleba emphasized.
