The Russian occupation forces shelled settlements in Donetsk region on Thursday, as a result of which a woman and a noy, 11, were killed, and seven people sustained injuries, the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) has said.

"According to the investigation, on October 12, 2023, the Russian army shelled Avdiyivka. A man, 58, and a woman, 61, suffered shrapnel wounds," it said on the Telegram channel.

The enemy also inflicted missile strikes on the village of Bohatyr, Volnovakha district, as a result of which an 11-year-old boy was killed and his 6-year-old brother sustained body injuries. The mother of the boys, 31, was hospitalized with multiple lacerations.

The Russian forces also shelled Halytsynivka, Pokrovsky district, as a result of which a man, 32, and a woman, 62, were injured. Also, the town of Hirniak, Pokrovsky district, was attacked. A woman, 44, was killed and her 24-year-old son-in-law was injured.

Under the procedural guidance of Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, law enforcers started pre-trial investigations into the violation of laws and customs of war (Parts 1, 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
