Ukrainian Red Cross Society trains 30 young volunteers under Life Skills and Sprint program

The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) has conducted a training on the program of humanistic education Life Skills and Sprint for young volunteers.

"In Lviv, for the first time in several years, a training has been held for facilitators [a facilitator is a person who manages a group event and leads the discussion so that the group more effectively achieves its goals] under the program of humanistic education Life Skills and Sprint for volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross … These youth projects are being implemented with the active support of the Danish Red Cross and the Danish Red Cross Youth," URCS said on its official Facebook page on Wednesday.

Thirty young people from Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Mykolaiv and Khmelnytsky regions went through the education program.

The Life Skills initiative involves teaching young people in communities the life skills necessary for the full existence of a young person in harmony with themselves, friends and colleagues, the community and society as a whole. The skills of this initiative, which can be obtained in 13 thematic blocks, range from the ability to resolve conflicts in a non-violent way to understanding issues of social inequality, from awareness of one's own comfort zone to gender issues.

Another Sprint initiative involves the awakening of civic engagement of young people in communities. And the project management skills of the newly trained facilitators will allow them to identify the most relevant problems for their communities and develop their own social initiatives to solve them. The most successful of these initiatives will be implemented with the support of the Red Cross of Ukraine.
