Evacuation from Izium did not start due to ongoing shelling - Synehubov

Explosions continue in the vicinity of the city of Izium, Kharkiv region, despite the commitment of the Russian side to cease fire to evacuate the population in the city of Lozova, head of Kharkiv regional military administration Oleh Synehubov said.

"Buses are still waiting at the entrance to Izium. Now we cannot evacuate the population due to explosions that are heard in the vicinity. Despite the obligations of the Russian side, shelling continues," Synehubov wrote in his Telegram channel.

According to him, negotiations through the mediation of the Red Cross are underway. "We hope to evacuate the population today and bring in the humanitarian cargo that was collected in Kharkiv," Synehubov wrote.

Earlier, on March 9, Deputy Prime Minister-Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereschuk announced the agreement reached with the Russian Federation on routes for the evacuation of civilians from a number of settlements, including from Izium to Lozova, as well as an agreement on a ceasefire with 9 :00 to 21:00 on Wednesday.
