In Kharkiv region 34 people killed due to shelling, 285 injured, including 10 children – State Emergency Service

In the shelling of residential areas by the Russian aggressor, 34 people were killed and 285 were injured (including 10 children) in the Kharkiv region, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine has reported.

"Over the past day, from March 2 to March 3, the enemy continued to hit residential areas and entire settlements with their deadly bombs, shells and rocket artillery, cynically killing the civilian population. The cities of Kharkiv, Izium, as well as the villages of Yakovlivka and Khorosheve of Kharkiv region, were hit heavily. In general, the statistics of casualties among the civilian population is impressive: 34 people were killed, 285 were injured, 10 of them were children.

After the hit of ammunition in houses and administrative buildings, several dozen fires broke out, 30 of them responded to rescuers, working even under shelling.

Around 8 am, the center of Kharkiv was heavily bombed. Rockets hit two administrative buildings that set on fire. The area of the fire was 600 sq.m. During the rescue operations, the State Emergency Service rescued 10 people from the rubble, 4 people died.

At 13:31 an enemy shell hit a residential building on the Constitution Square in the center of Kharkiv. This building was partially destroyed. The blast wave damaged building structures and destroyed the windows of another house on the Constitution Square. During the rescue operation, 17 people were rescued.

At 13.33 the projectile hit a garage cooperative on Academician Pavlov Street. There was a fire with an area of 300 sq.m. The bodies of 3 people were found at the scene.

At 13:57 – a fire on an area of 40 sq.m. in Kharkiv at Lesia Serdiuka Street. The shell hit between the 4th and 5th floors of the 16-storey building. 20 people were evacuated from the house. At 14:40 a fire in 3 houses on Myronosytska Street. The reason is the same. The burning area was 1,000 sq.m. Rescuers rescued 13 people.

At 22:13 an air bomb was dropped on a house on Selianska Street in Kharkiv. After the air strike on the building, fire was on an area of 55 sq.m. 2 people were rescued from the rubble, 3 were injured, 2 died.

At 22:57 the enemy attacked the village, where there is no military infrastructure anywhere near. The blow was inflicted on the village of Yakovlivka, Kharkiv region. There was a fire of 2 cars and an outbuilding, private households were damaged. 7 people injured, 2 killed.

At midnight there was a massive air raid on the peaceful city of Izium, the city of Cossack glory. The battle lasted from 00:14 to 02:02. After the air strike, a 5-storey residential building was damaged, in which a woman was rescued from the rubble. Also on Ukrainska Street 8 people were killed, including 2 children (about 5-6 years old). Rescuers removed their bodies from the rubble. On Fedorenko Street State Emergency Service rescued 2 women who were trapped in a destroyed house.

In addition, as a result of a massive air strike, the Saltivka residential area suffered. In residential high-rise buildings, structures were damaged and windows were destroyed. Information about the casualties is currently being specified.

"The rescuers received about 236 applications for finding unexploded ordnance. The pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service, despite the threat of falling under enemy fire, cleared 230 of them.
