The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine welcomes the report on the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU adopted by the European Parliament and says that Ukraine will take into account the recommendations on the need to complete the initiated reforms, in particular in the areas of the rule of law, good governance and the fight against corruption.

"The report notes that Ukraine has made significant progress in fulfilling its obligations under the Association and Integration Agreement with the European Union. The Ukrainian side will carefully consider the recommendations on the need to complete the initiated reforms, in particular in the areas of the rule of law, good governance and the fight against corruption," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in a statement released on Thursday.

The ministry said this report is not only a comprehensive examination by the European Union of the Association Agreement implementation, but also contains important signals across the entire spectrum of relations between Ukraine and the European Union in the context of the further development of political association and economic integration of Ukraine with the EU.

The Foreign Ministry also said that Ukraine is grateful to the European Parliament's MPs for condemning the destabilizing actions of Russia, its military presence in Ukraine, the militarization of Crimea, the illegal actions of the Russian Federation aimed at seizing control over the Kerch Strait, in particular the construction of a bridge without Ukraine's consent.

"The appeal of the European Parliament's MPs is extremely important to release all Ukrainian political prisoners and prisoners of war in Russia, Crimea and in the parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions not controlled by Ukraine," the Ukrainian foreign ministry said.

In addition, the European Parliament once again stressed that Ukraine has a European perspective and recognized the right of Ukraine, in accordance with Article 49 of the Treaty on the European Union, to apply for EU membership, subject to all Copenhagen criteria and principles of democracy, fundamental freedoms, human and minority rights, as well as ensuring the rule of law.

"Ukraine shares the vision of the European Parliament on the need to update the parameters of the Association Agreement and the EU-Ukraine Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, taking into account the development of the legal framework, the needs of economic development and the prospects for sectoral integration. The report shows the success of the implementation of the Association Agreement and strong support from the European Parliament regarding the further deepening of Ukraine's integration with the EU," the ministry said.
