Parubiy initiates increase in number of CEC members

Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy has registered a bill proposing to increase the number of members of the Central Election Commission (CEC) to 17 people.

According to the website of the Ukrainian parliament, draft law No. 9090 introducing changes to Article 6 of the Law of Ukraine on the Central Election Commission was registered on Monday, September 17.

According to the text of the legislative initiative, the only change proposed concerns an increase in the number of CEC members from 15 to 17 people.

The document was sent to the parliament's committee on legal policy and justice for consideration.

As reported, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko nominated 14 candidates for 13 seats in the CEC.
