The 2.7-kilometer-long blue-and-yellow flag of Ukraine has been unfurled in the Darnytsky district of Kyiv on the National Flag Day, which has become a national record.

A report posted on the website of Darnytska District State Administration in Kyiv on Thursday notes that every hundred meters of the flag symbolize 27 years of Ukraine's independence and are dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the restoration of Ukrainian statehood.

Hundreds of people came to Bazhana Avenue to set the national record of Ukraine and to stretch the flag from the Boryspilska metro station to the Pozniaky metro station.

The National Flag Day is marked in Ukraine on August 23. The national flag is one of the three official state symbols of the sovereignty of the state.
