President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in the ceremony of raising the state flag of Ukraine on Wednesday.

"Every year on August 23, we celebrate the Day of the State Flag of Ukraine. Every year we pay tribute to the Ukrainian sanctity. This is our symbol, this is our amulet, this is our blue and yellow flag. Our flag is our pride," he said.

"Our flag is our confidence. The confidence that it is sure to fly wherever it rightfully should be. Throughout our sovereign territory. An unshakable belief in this within each and every one of us. Our flag is our strength, a source of will, invincibility of spirit for everyone, for all the soldiers who go into battle with this flag on their armor and under their hearts," the president also said.

According to him, "today in the heart of Ukraine we raise a special flag. It has special words and signatures left by special people. These are our warriors, our defenders, our heroes fighting for freedom for Ukrainians."

"This banner was on the positions of our soldiers from Chernihiv to Odesa, along the entire line of defense of Ukraine, and in various combat brigades and divisions. In hospitals where our wounded are treated, in the hands of volunteers. This flag will always keep the mention of many Ukrainians. But it will definitely be replenished and enriched with new signatures of our soldiers," Zelenskyy said.

After today's ceremony, he said, everyone will be able to see it at the National Museum. "The time will come when all of our free and peaceful Ukraine will be able to see this special flag," Zelenskyy said.
