Antonov Airlines transport Siemens energy equipment for new power plants in Bolivia

Ukraine's Antonov Airlines, the global operator of an An-225 Mriya super carrier with a carrying capacity of 250 tonnes, has completed the transportation of Germany's Siemens power equipment with a total tonnage of about 2,000 tonnes for new thermal power plants being built by the company in Bolivia.

According to a report by the Antonov press service on Facebook, in general within a month Antonov Airlines performed 12 Mriya flights from Chile to Bolivia at the request of the European logistics company Hansa Meyer Global Transport GmbH&Co. A large-scale logistics operation, within the framework of which 12 power modules with a weight of about 160 tonnes each were transported, was successfully completed on July 25.

A source on the market of air transportation of unique large-sized freight told Interfax-Ukraine that the first flight in the framework of the logistics project for transportation of Siemens electrical equipment from Chile to Bolivia with a total tonnage of about 2,000 tonnes was performed by the Ukrainian operator on June 27.

According to the previously released official data from Siemens, the power equipment is intended to expand the capacities of the thermal power plants Termoelectrica del Sur, Termoelectrica de Warnes and Termoelectrica Entre Rios owned and operated by Bolivia's Ende Andina. According to the German company, the implementation of the project, provided under the agreement signed between Siemens and Ende Andina in May 2016 and being part of a comprehensive agreement on cooperation between Siemens and the Ministry of Energy of Bolivia, will increase the generating capacity of the national integrated power system of Bolivia by 66%.

Antonov Airlines is a structural subdivision of Antonov state enterprise, one of the world's leading operators of heavy An-124-100 Ruslan aircraft with a cargo carrying capacity of 150 tonnes and An-225 Mriya aircraft with a payload capacity of 250 tonnes.
