RIA Novosti Ukraine Editor-In-Chief Kirill Vyshinsky has been notified as being under the suspicion of illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, Larysa Sarhan, the spokesperson for the Ukrainian prosecutor general, said.

"Treason suspect Kirill Vyshinsky has been notified about another suspicion of committing a crime of illegal purchase and possession of firearms and ammunition," Sarhan said on her Facebook account on Friday.

A gun and ammunition for it were found and seized during recent searches in an individual bank vault rented by Vyshinsky, she said.

"According to results of a forensic ballistic evaluation, the aforementioned gun is a firearm, a FN Browning M1906 automatic pistol," the spokesperson said.

She mentioned that the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea exercises procedural control over the criminal proceedings.

On May 15, RIA Novosti Ukraine Editor-In-Chief Kirill Vyshinsky, who holds Ukrainian and Russian citizenship, was detained following searches of the agency's office and charged with treason.

The Kherson City Court imposed a restrictive measure in the form of arrest on him until July 13.
