Switzerland to deliver 1,700 tonnes of chemical reagents for water treatment, medical equipment to eastern Ukraine

 The Swiss Confederation will provide humanitarian assistance to the east of Ukraine through the humanitarian aid section of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) on June 4-12, the press service of the Ministry for Temporary Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine has reported.

"The total humanitarian aid budget is about 2.2 million Swiss francs, which consists of approximately 1,700 tonnes of chemical reagents for water purification (aluminum sulphate, lime, etc.) to be used at the water treatment plant of the 'Water of Donbas' (Voda Donbasu) Utilities Company, and also equipment for the production of sodium hypochlorite," the press service of the ministry said on Wednesday.

In addition, according to the information, the most necessary medical equipment and spare parts will be delivered to meet the needs of health facilities in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

"The receipt of cargo will be carried out in different settlements of Donetsk and Luhansk regions throughout the specified period. The approximate total number of trucks will be about 65 vehicles," it said.

Currently, the humanitarian cargo in the form of medical equipment has been transferred to the Public institution 'Mariupol Territorial Medical Association for the Health of a Child and a Woman' and to the public health care facility Volnovakhsky Central District Hospital.
