One killed, four wounded in 80 enemy attacks on Ukrainian positions over past day - JFO
Militants have opened fire on the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces 80 times over the past 24 hours, killing one Ukrainian serviceman and wounding four more, the press center for the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) has reported.
"The situation has escalated in the area of the Joint Forces Operation over the past 24 hours, on May 6. The hostilities continued along the entire contact line. The enemy violated the Minsk agreements 80 times," reads a report as of 07:00 on Monday, which was posted on the Facebook page of the JFO press center.
The press center noted that the most active military operations continued near the villages of Krymske, Novotoshkivske, Luhanske, Avdiyivka, Pisky, Troitske, and Shyrokyne. Militants opened fired 22 times from artillery and mortars and twice from a tank. Joint Forces units gave an adequate response and actively defended.
"Occupiers continue to flagrantly violate the norms of international humanitarian law. Yesterday, on May 6, they fired twice from 152mm and 122mm cannons at the populated centers of Zaitseve and Mykilske, on the outskirts of the town of Horlivka, Donetsk region," the report says.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters inflicted losses on the militants, killing three and wounding five.
