Investigators say shelling of Polish Consulate in Lutsk may be terrorist attack – SBU
The Security Service of Ukraine has said that investigators consider a terrorist attack among the theories of the explosion in the building of the Consulate General of Poland in Lutsk, Volyn region, which occurred most likely as a result of shelling from the RPG-26 grenade launcher, adding that only Russia will benefit from such provocations.
"An explosion occurred on the fourth floor of the building of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Lutsk in the early hours of March 29. According to preliminary data, the building was shot at from the RPG-26 rocket-propelled grenade launcher. There were no casualties as the result of the explosion. The task forces of the Security Service of Ukraine and police are working at the site. The investigation considers several theories behind the incident, including a terrorist act," the SBU said in statement on Wednesday.
"Provocations against the Republic of Poland, which occur from time to time in Ukraine, are beneficial only to one party – the Russian Federation, whose hand is recognizable from afar [....] We are convinced that such actions of the aggressor will not affect the relations between the friendly Ukrainian and Polish peoples," the statement said.
As reported, in the early hours of March 29 unknown persons shelled the premises of the Consulate General of Poland in Lutsk from the backyard. The shell hit the window of the last floor.
There were no people in the room at the time of the explosion, so no one was hurt, although there were guards in the room on the floor below.
