Poroshenko appoints Yuriy Allerov as National Guard Commander
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has appointed Lieutenant General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Allerov as National Guard Commander.
"Now I would like to sign a decree to appoint Yuriy Allerov as National Guard Commander of Ukraine," Poroshenko said on Wednesday at Kharkiv Academy of National Guard of Ukraine during the meeting with a personal staff.
Poroshenko said that Allerov was standing at the origins of the National Guard, however on some period was assigned to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"I saw a patriotism of this general, who stands firm for his soldiers and at the same time ready to do his best to carry out an order of the chief commander," Poroshenko said adding that he had a frank talk with Allerov after the latter stayed alive after Debaltseve.
Allerov Yuriy Volodymyrovych, born in Lviv in 1964, is a Soviet and Ukrainian military, General Lieutenant and cavalier of the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky in Soviet Union.
Prior to this, Allerov was chief inspector of Defense Ministry of Ukraine.
