Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power at a meeting on Thursday discussed the situation in Ukraine's east and the implementation of the Minsk agreements, the Ukrainian government's press service reported.

"During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the situation in the east of Ukraine, the implementation of the agreements in Minsk, as well as further steps to step up the actions of the United Nations in the peaceful settlement and aimed at strengthening international solidarity around Ukraine," the statement reads.

Yatseniuk stressed that Ukraine appreciated firm and unequivocal position of Power its defense against the Russian aggression.

The head of government thanked Power for her efforts to support Ukraine within the UN.
