Nuland to meet with civil society representatives in Moscow - U.S. embassy

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland is expected to meet with Russian officials and with civil society representatives during her visit to Moscow on May 17 and 18, sources in the U.S. embassy in Moscow informed Interfax.

Earlier, the U.S. embassy's press secretary William Stevens told Interfax that Nuland plans to meet with highly-placed Russian officials to discuss further steps to implement the Minsk agreements in the context of her visit to Kyiv on May 14-16 and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry's talks in Sochi on May 12.

Nuland will also discuss various aspects of U.S.-Russia bilateral relations, the U.S. embassy said.

Moscow Helsinki Group chief, veteran Russian rights campaigner Lyudmila Alexeyeva earlier told Interfax that she would meet with Nuland on May 18.

"The meeting will take place in the first half of the day on Monday," Alexeyeva said.

She said the meeting would be attended by representatives of the U.S. embassy in Russia.
