Former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski and former President of the European Parliament Pat Cox have arrived at Kharkiv-based Central Clinical Hospital No. 5, where former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is undergoing treatment.

According to an Interfax-Ukraine reporter, a group of vehicles including a minibus with the EP representatives entered the territory of the hospital at 1045.

The ex-premier's supporters outside the clinic chanted "Free Yulia!" when the vehicles were entering the territory of the clinic.

As reported, Cox and Kwasniewski started monitoring the court proceedings involving former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko on June 11, 2012 under an agreement between Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and European Parliament President Martin Schulz.

Their mandate was subsequently expanded to include the court proceedings involving former Interior Minister of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko and former Acting Defense Minister of Ukraine Valeriy Ivaschenko. Their work was suspended when parliamentary elections began in Ukraine and was then restarted.

On February 4, 2013, the observers visited the Mena Penal Colony in Chernihiv region to meet with Lutsenko. On the same day, they held a meeting with Second Ukrainian President (1994-2005) Leonid Kuchma.
