Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Social Policy Minister Sergiy Tigipko has submitted his resignation to Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

When asked whether he had submitted his resignation due to his election to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, he said: "Yes."

Tigipko declined to say whether he would like to continue to stay in the government or start working in parliament.

As reported, in the parliamentary elections on October 28, Tigipko was elected an MP on the election list of the Regions Party.

Emergencies Minister Viktor Baloha, Minister for Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Anatoliy Blyzniuk and Education Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk earlier tendered their resignations due to their being elected MPs.

Under the law, persons that were elected MPs, in order to get parliamentary mandates, should submit documents on the dismissal from their previous job to the Central Election Commission within 20 days (by December 3).
