Eurosolidarity initiates meeting with president to obtain info on peace talks
The European Solidarity faction in the Verkhovna Rada would like to receive information from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the progress of peace talks, faction co-chair Iryna Gerashchenko has said.
"European Solidarity demands an immediate meeting with Zelenskyy and information about the progress of peace negotiations and the agreements reached," Gerashchenko wrote on Facebook on Monday.
She noted that the faction expects at the conciliation council on Monday from the Speaker of the Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk, his deputies and the leadership of the Servant of the People faction "full information about the conversations that, according to Zelenskyy, are being held in the Office of the President regarding the election law behind the backs of the rest of the parliament."
Gerashchenko recalled that the Ukrainian parliament learned from the media that Zelenskyy ordered the development of a law on elections during martial law and called the "insane situation" when the president avoids communication with the parliament.
"We are talking about issues that are crucial for every Ukrainian. Our sovereignty. Our territories. Our foreign policy alliances," the MP said.
As reported, Zelenskyy arrived in Berlin on Sunday, December 14, for a visit. Efforts to mediate the expected ceasefire between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, which began in Berlin with the participation of the President of Ukraine and Trump's envoys Stephen Witkoff and Jared Kushner, will continue on Monday.
On the Ukrainian side, German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz is also participating in the negotiations. In addition to him and Zelensky, the meeting is attended by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Rustem Umerov, Chief of the General Staff of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Hnatov, First Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsia, and Advisor to the Head of the Presidential Office Oleksandr Bevz.
According to the photo, in addition to Witkoff and Kushner, the Supreme Commander of NATO's joint forces in Europe, Lieutenant General Alexus Hrynkevich, is also participating in the meeting from the American side.
