Ukrainian parliamentarian, leader of the European Solidarity party, Petro Poroshenko, insists that the Verkhovna Rada should focus on providing Defense Forces, as well as legislatively stop the transit of Russian oil through the territory of Ukraine and deprive the mandates of deputies elected from the banned Opposition Platform - For Life party.

"We must stop the enemy's advance in the already semi-encircled Pokrovsk and reach Dnipropetrovsk region. I want to emphasize that we have never had large-scale battles in Dnipropetrovsk region, neither in 2014 nor in 2022. Today we are facing an immediate threat," Poroshenko said at a briefing before the start of the plenary week, calling for efforts and resources to be directed towards the construction of fortifications.

"The second position is to provide drones and electronic warfare equipment to each brigade. As a legislative initiative, we appeal to the president and the Supreme Commander's Headquarters to legally prohibit the creation of new brigades until existing brigades with combat experience are staffed," he added.

He also advocates the return of money to the accounts of the brigades that pay these taxes. "We are now registering a draft law that stipulates that funds in the amount of more than UAH 20 billion will be withdrawn from the manager of funds and will be transferred directly to the accounts of the brigades. This will make it possible to immediately close the primary needs for weapons, intelligence, electronic warfare, and drones," the politician believes.

European Solidarity also insists on the adoption of draft laws on the deprivation of the mandates of deputies from the Opposition Platform - For Life party.

"Bill No. 8089 will deprive the influence of pro-Russian banned forces by banning it democratically - by a court decision. It will prohibit participation in voting, participation in the work of committees, temporary investigative commissions, so that they do not represent the Verkhovna Rada, the state of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people at inter-parliamentary meetings. And by adopting resolution 7694 on the basis of this court decision, we must prematurely terminate the powers of former members of the Regions party," Poroshenko said.
