Zelenskyy's peace plan includes military, diplomatic, political and economic components – Podoliak
The peace plan of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy includes measures to militarily pressure Russia to cease aggression, political and economic components, as well as a plan of diplomatic measures, said Mykhailo Podoliak, adviser to the head of the President’s Office.
"In general, there are four key areas that are spelled out in detail with additions, where there are corresponding figures. This is a military coercion of the Russian Federation, taking into account the experience of the war in Kursk region, the war in Donetsk region. How many types of weapons we need, how fast it should be on the battlefield. And, accordingly, what investments are needed in the military-industrial complex of Ukraine to increase its own production of long-range capabilities," Podoliak said on the air of the national telethon on Thursday evening.
He noted that we are also talking about "a significant increase in the war on the territory of the Russian Federation," as well as the elimination of "all these informal restrictions that prevent systemic strikes deep into the Russian Federation."
"The second component [of the peace plan], the second direction is the political direction. It is necessary to record the key positions once again – well, for example, if Ukraine wants to be a member of some kind of collective alliance in the field of security, it has a full sovereign right to do so, realizing its subjectivity and no Russian Federation can say whether you will be a member of this or that alliance or not," Podoliak said.
The third component, according to him, is economic and it is bilateral. "These are investments in Ukraine, our production, in order to clearly understand how much, for what money and for what licenses we can count on in terms of our own production, as well as to remove Russia from global markets so that they cannot continue to finance this war to the extent that they are doing it today," added the adviser to the head of the President's Office.
The fourth component of the peace plan, according to Podoliak, is apply diplomatic pressure on Russia.
"Ukraine's proposals are not about theory, not about what can be, how can it be, how theoretically we can think about it and so on. The plan of Ukraine is based on a factual analysis of what is happening, firstly on the front line, and secondly on Kursk region on the territory of the Russian Federation. There is an analysis of how effective weapons can be used, if they are in the appropriate quantity, how this will affect the situation on the front line and social sentiments in the Russian Federation ... The plan is based on the logic of the moment," he stressed.
The plan will be discussed in more detail after Zelenskyy's scheduled meeting in the United States with U.S. President Joseph Biden, as well as U.S. presidential candidates for the upcoming elections from the Democratic and Republican parties Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, the adviser to the head of the President's Office said.
Also, according to him, the plan does not envisage freezing the war. "Today, Ukraine understands most clearly what kind of war this is and explains what consequences this war can lead to if some formulas for freezing the conflict are used, because any freezing of the conflict will preserve the political regime in the Russian Federation," Podoliak said.
