The leader of the European Solidarity party, MP Petro Poroshenko called on Western allies to lift restrictions on missile strikes on Russian territory and noted that such restrictions encourage Russian occupiers to carry out even more strikes on civilian cities and villages in Ukraine, the political force’s website reported on Friday.

"When we expect Western weapons, I don't mean machine guns or bulletproof vests. We are talking about long-range missiles. Why? Because Ukraine has the right to attack legitimate military targets on Russian territory. What does that mean, legitimate military targets? These are Russian arsenals. This is a concentration of Russian troops when they are ready to attack us. And there is simply no explanation why we cannot defend not only Ukraine, but the entire Western world with such weapons," Poroshenko said, speaking at a representative Berlin conference attended by politicians from Germany, the United States, Great Britain and other countries.

"Secondly, more air defense... Air defense - from Germany, from Great Britain, from the USA, from NATO. This is not an offensive weapon, we just want to protect civilians. We want to protect Ukrainian cities. And that is why it is so important," he added.

The politician noted the need to use the Israeli model of defense. "Why can't we use NATO's potential not to attack Russia, but to protect Ukrainian airspace? There is no explanation. To do this, we need to speed it up. Putin must understand that he simply has no hope of winning this war. Therefore, the Israeli option would be definitely important for us," the politician added.

He also once again called for strengthening sanctions against the Russian Federation in order to deprive it of the financial resources to continue the war. "The only language Putin understands is the language of force. Why? Because Putin will go as far as we together allow him to go. And he will stop exactly where we together stop him," Poroshenko is convinced.
