Nine ballistic, 13 cruise missiles, 20 attack UAVs shot down – Ukrainian Air Force
On the night of September 2, 2025, Russian occupiers launched a missile strike on Kyiv, Sumy and Kharkiv regions, using ballistic, cruise and anti-aircraft guided missiles, they attacked with Shahed type attack UAVs from the southern direction, the Air Force command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
"The radio-technical troops of the Air Force detected and tracked 58 air targets - 35 missiles of various types and 23 attack UAVs," the message on the Telegram channel says.
Thus, to carry out the strike, the Russians launched 16 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Bryansk, Voronezh and Kursk regions of Russia, 14 X-101 cruise missiles from Tu-95MS aircraft from the airspace of Volgograd region of Russia, as well as four S-300/S-400 anti-aircraft guided missiles and one missile of an unspecified type from Belgorod region and 23 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs from Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
"As a result of combat operations by units of the anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare systems of the Air Force, as well as crews of the mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, nine Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, 13 X-101 cruise missiles, 20 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs were shot down," the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.
In addition, as a result of active counteraction by the Defense Forces of Ukraine, one X-101 cruise missile and three strike UAVs did not reach their targets and were lost in location. The information is being clarified.
Combat operations were carried out in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Mykolaiv and Zaporizhia regions.
