AFU to have new menu from June 2024, daily ration of one soldier to cost UAH 139
The State Rear Logistics Operator of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine will develop recommended menus for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) by the summer season, Strategic Communications Advisor of the State Rear Logistics Operator Tetiana Kharchenko has said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.
"The State Rear Logistics Operator will involve professional technologists and chefs in developing recommended rations for military units that they can use to feed military personnel," she said.
According to Kharchenko, the recommended menus will be launched through a system that is currently being developed based on an analysis of the needs of military units.
It is expected that changes in military nutrition, taking into account the updated menu, will be put into effect in June 2024.
Purchasing Director of the State Rear Logistics Operator Viktoria Vynohradova said that currently the food procurement is carried out according to the catalog developed in 2019, which contains 409 items. The formation and updating of the catalog are managed by the Central Development Directorate of the Defense Ministry.
"For our part, we made proposals for the descriptions of foodstuffs. [...] We understand that all the requirements and descriptions for the current products stipulate that we need to move forward. The Central Development Directorate is also open to changing the descriptions. Since some of them have already lost their relevance," she said.
Answering a question from Interfax-Ukraine about the daily cost of food ration for one serviceman, Vynohradova said the state Rear Logistics Operator hopes to purchase foodstuffs at ProZorro auctions in such a way that a balanced daily ration for one serviceman would cost UAH 139.38.
