Inflation in Ukraine in Sept rises to 1.9%, in annual terms slows to 8.9%

Consumer prices in Ukraine after a decline by 0.7% in July and stability in August grew by 1.9% in September, and since early 2018 their growth was 5.6%, the State Statistics Service has reported.

In annual terms (September 2018 on September 2017) inflation slightly slowed to 8.9% compared with 9% in August.

The underlying inflation in September 2018 was also 1.9% after 0.1% in August, and in January-September 2018 it reached 5.5%. In annual terms underlying inflation was 8.7%.

As reported, inflation in Ukraine in 2017 accelerated to 13.7% compared with 12.4% in 2016, which, however, is significantly lower than in the past years, in particular 43.3% in 2015 and 24.9% in 2014.

The National Bank at the end of October 2017 downgraded the forecast for inflation in 2018 from 6% to 7.3%, in January 2018 to 8.9%, while the Cabinet of Ministers from 7% to 9%.
