Housing, utilities subsidies up 14.1 times in Jan-March 2016

The total amount of subsidies paid to families for housing and utility services in Ukraine amounted to UAH 1.802 billion in January-March 2016, which is UAH 1.675 billion, or 14.1 times up year-over-year, the State Statistics Service has reported.

According to the report, the figure for January-November 2015 does not include the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, and part of the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone. Data on Donetsk and Luhansk region may be adjusted.

According to the statistics service, in January-March 2016 subsidies were allocated to 1.383 million families. This is 114.8% of the total number of families that applied to receive subsidies and this is 3.5 times up year-over-year.

The average size of a grant subsidizing housing payments and utilities services for one family in March 2016 rose by 4.4 times year-over-year, to UAH 1,197.

The largest subsidies in March 2016 were registered in Volyn and Ternopil regions (UAH 1,602 and UAH 1,577 respectively), the lowest – in Kyiv city and Kherson region (UAH 826.30 and UAH 859.80).

In 2015, the total amount of subsidies paid to families for housing and utility services in Ukraine amounted to UAH 2.346 billion, which is UAH 1.997 billion, or 6.7 times, up year-over-year.
