Ukraine names 18 motor and 10 railway transit entrance checkpoints from Russia and Belarus under embargo

The government of Ukraine has approved a list of 28 entrance checkpoints on Belarus-Russia border that transit goods originated from Russia, which banned to bring to Ukraine.

Under the decree No.20 as of January 20 posted on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers, there are 10 road and 4 railway entrance points on the border with Russia and 8 road and 6 railway entrance points on the border with Belarus.

On the border with Russia the mentioned goods are authorized for transit entrance via motor checkpoints Prosyane, Taniushivka, Pletinivka, Hoptivka, Velyka Pysarivka, Yunakivka, Katerynivka, Bachivsk, Hremyach and Senkivka; via such railway checkpoints as Lantrativka, Topoli, Kozacha Lopan and Zernove.

On the border with Belarus such automobile entrance checkpoints permitted as Domanove, Dolsk, Pulemets, Senkivka, Novi Yarylovychi, Slavutych, Vystupovychi and Horodysche; for railway communication – Nedanchychi, Schors, Hornostayivka, Udrytsk, Zabolottya and Vystupovychi.

On January 1, Russia's government introduced limitations on transit shipments of Ukrainian freight from Ukraine to Kazakhstan via Russian territory: freight should be transported via Belarus and only two checkpoints at the Belarus-Russia border and three checkpoints at the Russia-Kazakhstan border are authorized to handle such freight.

The limitations were introduced after Russia repealed the free trade regime with Ukraine in 2016 and imposed a food embargo on Ukraine. In response to this, the Ukrainian authorities introduced retaliatory measures.
