Ukraine abolishes obligatory certification of agricultural machinery – Trade Ministry

Ukraine has cancelled the obligatory certification of agricultural machinery from 2016, manufacturers and suppliers of equipment for the agrarian sector will no longer need to obtain a certificate of compliance in Ukraine.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, corresponding order No. 1699 entered into force on January 1, 2016.

According to the order, Section 10 "Agricultural Machinery" has been excluded from the list of products that are subject to mandatory certification. Mandatory for use in 2016 became the technical regulations for approving the type of agricultural and forestry tractors, their trailers and interchangeable towed machinery, systems, components and separate technical kits, as well as the technical regulations of spares and characteristics of wheeled agricultural and forestry tractors.

The ministry noted that the purpose of transferring to technical regulations harmonized with the European ones is the complete removal of trade barriers with the EU.

"Machinery is one of the most important assets in agriculture. Therefore the removal of unnecessary restrictions and the transition to European standards will help realize the enormous potential of the agricultural sector and make the life of national equipment manufacturers easier," Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Maksym Nefedov said.
