Coal stocks at Ukraine's power plants reach 1.9 mln tonnes – Ukrenergo

Coal stocks held in the warehouses of Ukrainian thermal power plants (TPPs) from September 28 to September 30, 2015 increased by 5.6% or by 102,000 tonnes, to 1.902 million tonnes, according to a national joint-stock company Ukrenergo report.

Anthracite stocks during the period totaled 919,200 tonnes (452,200 tonnes at Luhansk TTP) and gas and short-flame coal – 982,800 tonnes (including 228,700 tonnes at Burshtyn TPP).

Ukrenergo said that in the morning on September 30, 32 coal power units and three fuel oil power units at the thermal power plants of generating companies with a capacity of 5.925 GW were operating. Ukrainian nuclear power plants (NPPs) had the capacity of 9.742 GW, hydroelectric power plants – 601 MW, combined heat and power plants – 761 MW and alternative energy units – 105 MW.

Ukrenergo operates Ukraine's backbone and interstate power grid and supervises the country's national grid. It is a state-owned company and is controlled by the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry.
