Ukraine prepared for possible trade embargo with Russia

Ukraine is prepared for the possible introduction of a trade embargo by Russia after the economic provisions of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union become effective.

"[Firstly,] we clearly declare that the agreement will enter into force. Secondly, Ukraine is part of the European economic area. Thirdly, we are ready if the embargo has been introduced. And fourthly, we will give a decent response if Russia has not repealed its resolution to introduce the embargo," Yatseniuk said at a government meeting on Wednesday.

As reported, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that Moscow did not see any reason to agree with Ukraine and the EU by the end of the year on issues related to the economic provisions of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, which will enter into force soon.

According to him, the ban on agricultural exports will become effective only in if Ukraine fulfills the economic provisions of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.
