EU transfers EUR 500 mln in macro-financial assistance to Ukraine
The European Commission on Tuesday transferred a tranche of EUR 500 million as a part of its macro-financial assistance to Ukraine, a representative of the European Commission Simon O'Connor has said.
"The EU has transferred a first tranche as a part of its macro-financial assistance to Ukraine," he said at a briefing in Brussels.
As reported, on June 10, 2014, the European Commission borrowed EUR 500 million on the market, placing Eurobonds to provide macro-financial assistance to Ukraine.
The total sum of the assistance will amount to EUR 1.61 billion.
On May 20, 2014, the European Commission transferred EUR 100 million under the program.
